USTA Florida Developmental Camps for Diverse Backgrounds (Serve)

June 16th, 2018 USTA Florida Section hosted a developmental camp for diverse backgrounds.

Williams is the director for three USTA Florida Diversity Camps throughout the state in 2018, the long-running camps that list players such as Sloane Stephens and Sachia Vicery, currently on the WTA tour, as alumni.

“In June we kicked off with one of our best diversity camps to date in Boca Raton,” he says. “The thing that I most enjoy about the USTA Florida Diversity Camps is having students from sometimes a four-hour [geographic] radius attending the camps to learn, compete, and have fun with one another throughout the day. The smiles on their faces say it all.”

Students are ages 12-18 years old with Universal Tennis Ratings of 5-13. Players were treated to working on their S.M.A.R.T.S. skills of Seeing, Moving, Adjusting, Rotation, Transfer, and Swing while competing against each other. Our next camp will be September 29th at the National Training Center from 9:30-5:30.
